It's often easy to see boundaries between the two sexes simply based on color. As if by instinct, seeing a flash of Barbie's pink convertible or a bright magenta t-shirt sends a signal to our brains that says: "for girls only."
British photographer Kirsty Mackay began working on her latest series, My Favourite Colour Was Yellow , after she became a mother. When her daughter was born, she found her world consumed by the color pink.
