Al Jazeera journalist fined for flying drones over Paris

A journalist for Mideast cable network Al Jazeera has been fined for flying a drone over the center of Paris.


The journalist was one of three people arrested last week for illegally operating aerial vehicles near various landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower. Two of the journalists were released but the third, Tristan Redman, was charged and pleaded guilty


It is illegal to operate a drone in France without permission.



A French court ordered Redman to pay a €1,000 fine (about $1,200). He faced as much as a year in prison and a maximum fine of €75,000 (about $84,000). Read more...
