Apple's first big update to the Apple Watch's operating system became available today, after a bug forced the company to postpone its scheduled release last Wednesday.

Dubbed watchOS 2, the OS offers some new features and slight improvements. Among the biggest: third-party apps can now tap into the Apple Watch's hardware, and also natively on the watch, instead of being run off an iPhone. Another change: more possibilities with photos. You can now use a photo as a watch face and also view photos when you lift your wrist. Click here to read more about what else the new operating system offers.

1. Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 9.

2. Open the Apple Watch app. Under "General" and then "Software Update," there should be a notification taking you to the download.

3. That's it!
