Epic’s new documentary series hopes to sell VR by explaining it in simple terms.
Virtual Reality has the tech world buzzing, but it's still a long way from making it into your home. To do that, companies like Oculus, HTC and Sony must convince real humans — not just early adopters in Silicon Valley — that they can provide a VR experience compelling enough to overcome the embarrassment of strapping on one of those goofy headsets.
In other words, someone needs to make the case for VR in the home. That's precisely the idea behind a new documentary series from Epic Games, the maker of the Unreal Engine software that drives a lot of VR development. Called "Sense of Presence," the first episode premieres on BuzzFeed News today, and attempts to answer a simple question: "What is virtual reality?"
